What is a Puggle?

A Puggle is cross between a Beagle and a Pug. It is known as a designer dog, and a crossbreed, or a dog hybrid. Puggles are one of the most popular designer dogs.

Characteristics?

Due to being a mixed breed, Puggles have characteristics from both the Beagle and the Pug.

-Their size is similar to that of their parents, the Beagle and the Pug. The Puggle is slightly smaller than the Beagle. Puggles, as an adult, tend to weigh 15-30 pounds. They stand 10-15 inches at their shoulders. Their legs can be long or short. Their tails are curled like that of the Pug's. Puggles inherit the droopy ears from the Beagle. And their eyes, as well, usually favor the beagle. Male puggles are often more muscular larger than female puggles.

-The Puggles coat is made of smooth, short, and straight hairs, with a wide range of colors! Tan puggles accompanied with a black mask are without a doubt the most common. But Puggles can be born tri-colored, all white, or all black.

-Puggles do shed moderately. Brushing your Puggles coat on a weekly basis or so to remove any loose hair is always a good idea.

-Energetic, playful, sweet, smart, and affectionate are all words that are used to describe Puggles. They are great around all ages! Like other dogs, the Puggle sometimes lets curiosity get the best of him/her, and will smell new things and find new places! Their sense of smell is great and their tracking ability is like that of their parent, the Beagle. Socializing is one of their amazing characteristics. Puggles love meeting new dogs and new people!

-Like other dogs, Puggles do bark, but some are quiet. Barking may be caused by being alone in a pen, or when someone is at the door (they just want to say hi)! Over-excitement can lead to howling. This trait can be inherited from the Beagle.

-If you are allergic to the Beagle or the Pug, you may be allergic to Puggles, for they are not a hypoallergenic dog.
